We need to end project delivery disruptions due to the current method of Project Sharing.īelow is a video on ArchiCAD BIMserver and BIMcloud. This has been my experience, and I also verified this with someone who professionally maintains ArchiCAD systems for architects and saw through its ‘file-based project sharing’ era.Īs both ArchiCAD and Vectorworks are Nemetschek brands, surely Vectorworks engineers can learn from the experiences of ArchiCAD engineers and implement BIMserver into Vectoworks Carr close this 23-year technology gap with ArchiCAD on Project Sharing. Problems with file-based Project Sharing: Entire file needs to be synced (takes a long time, processing) Other team members are locked out during the sync process (waste of staff time) Constant file corruption and information loss (waste of time and soul destroying). In contrast for us, it is year 2020, Vectorworks still ’project shares’ with the technology of Teamwork, Archicad ditched this method 11 years ago because of its problems. In 2019, ArchiCAD retired BIMserver, supporting only BIMcloud.

In 2014, ArchiCAD introduced BIMcloud, which allows remote collaboration. In 2009, ArchiCAD ditched Teamwork and introduced BIMserver, a server-side project sharing management tool, allowing fast and simultaneous syncing. Why should they buy in this uncertain times? How are the new AC 24 and BIM Cloud 2020.Way back in 1997, ArchiCAD introduced Teamwork, a file-based project sharing method, like how we have it in Vectorworks today.

While It is more common now days, there are many business owners out there that have to make informed decisions, but have not come to understand how this feature could be useful. It feels like Graphisoft is assuming that we all know how cloud storage works.

There should be a feature list with a comparison of the old and new, paid and free, with explanations on what each listed feature does. The only explanations that I can find on BIM Cloud are vague and too brief. The page needs to be clear how these new features only work with AC24. But I have not found a page that explains what file types will be stored on BIM Cloud. Is there a web page that explains the new features of file handling as you explained to me? I heard this from you, because I asked and from the live online presentation revealing of AC24 with the new BIM Cloud.
